The flame failure trip in a typical boiler can be due to one of the following reasons: loss of ignition; fuel valve closed, unstable flame, low airflow, very high furnace pressure, dirty flame sensor and loss of electrical supply.
Learn MoreA flame sensor is a simple device, located at the burner assembly. The flame sensor is a thin, bent, metallic rod which sits in front of the flame stream, while the furnace is running. The purpose of the flame sensor is to confirm that fire is present, in your furnace, when the gas valve is opened.
Learn MoreDynaFlame ® & DFX Series. The DynaFlame ® is our leading edge product with models ranging from 500,000 BTU to 6 million BTU (the first in the industry for this style of Boiler/Water Heater). All models are available in non-condensing, near-condensing or fully condensing modes. The primary heat exchanger is available in copper/cu-ni or stainless steel.
Learn MoreBuderus oil- and gas-fired boilers were designed and built according to latest technologies, safety regulations applicable for commercial and industrial use boilers and therefore Buderus boilers need to be installed by qualified specialists. Read and obey all the safety instructions and the operator's instructions thanks to which you will be able to provide economical, safe and environmentally
Learn MoreI have my reserve about the flame sensor only because I never actually got a flame on start-up. I went back the next day to the other boiler room with three boilers. Same exact problem. Switched the igniter and sensor. Now only the one boiler works. I think I've narrowed it down to a spark gap issue.
Learn MoreFlame Safeguard Sensors. Choice of four models of ultraviolet flame detectors to meet variety of application requirements. The Sensor offers solid-state accuracy and reliability, dynamic self-check flame detectors available for systems with long run-time. Sense flames difficult to detect and provide mounting flexibility
Learn MoreFor those unfamiliar with the 'flame rectification' method of flame detection, the 'sensor' looks like this: The 'flame rod' is a metal wire that extends into the flame The mounting bracket has a ceramic insulator and the flame rod has a spade connector for a wire running back to the electronics.
Learn MoreA flame detector is a sensor designed to detect and respond to the presence of a flame or fire, allowing flame detection.Responses to a detected flame depend on the installation, but can include sounding an alarm, deactivating a fuel line (such as a propane or a natural gas line), and activating a fire suppression system. When used in applications such as industrial furnaces, their role is to

Learn MoreThere is also an anomaly with the green flame light. It sounds as if the boiler is igniting and heating up but the green light for the flame doesn't come on until later that's if it get's a chance at all before the boiler goes into reset mode. The helpline at WB doesn't seem to have a clue what the cause is either.
Learn MoreChecked the boiler control and found it is a United Technologies boiler control model 1013-100. Boiler HE II-3,series 1. This unit uses the ignitor as the flame sensor not a separate kanthol rod. The customer called again and the new ignitor did not make a difference, unit locked out again.
Learn MoreIf a thermocouple is used you'll see a small copper tube (or in some devices an electrical wire) connecting the flame sensor to the valve. The thermocouple and safety shutoff do double duty, since on burners that use a pilot flame the thermocouple senses the pilot flame and won't permit the gas valve to open if the pilot is not lit.

Learn MoreThe flame sensor tells the furnace that the pilot is lit. The gas valve opens so gas can flow to the main burner(s) and be lit by the pilot light. Direct ignition furnaces do not have a pilot light. They skip steps 3, 4 and 5 and light the burner directly. A flame sensor is still present but it is over the burner's flame.
